Substantial amount of different cultures and people. Lots of variations, complex continent before the spaniards got to latin america. Social and cultural linguistics became more complicated after. The complexity prior to european arrival had a complex history. We don"t know exactly but there were huge losses due to military warfare, disease, culture shock in the first few years of the conquest (16th century), no records or census at the time. Incomplete picture because they didn"t know everything about the continent.
