Trained in anthropology works with the apache tribe and did work on the navajo education. When she began her work around 20 she was at a contemporary school controlled by a all native governing board. The children at the school, all but one was a navajo, they all spoke navajo as the primary language. The anglo girl was a daughter of a school employee but was also currently learning the language. In the course of a generation there was a shift. Referred to as the language of the colonizers. Mother tongue and culture were the bride to learn english. Need to keep and sustain the language. Her job was to make an education plan that tried to teach english but keep the heritage alive.
