To learn the bottom-line facts to aid in making decisions. Use short sentences and paragraphs, human appeal, and an informal tone: a lot of factors influence how you construct your message for your reader, what is the reader"s. A range of experience can mean several areas of competence or expertise. If irrational or unrelated to current project try to gain respect on some neutral ground. Try to stay away from volatile subjects.
