Cruelty to animals and/or children: have very high expectations for children. Rigid sex roles: batter believe women exist for them, women should be passive and male dominate. Dr. jeckle and mr. hide: 2 personalities. Past battering: test the partner with stuff done in the past. Threats of violence: physical threats when setting a rule. Any force during an argument: holding them down, restraining them. Men though have more physical violence though. Recommendations for talking with a person who is abused: Let them know that you care and support them: only the abuser can stop the violence. Talk about physical violence is never acceptable: no good excuses for it (drinking) They need to know they are not alone. The violence will still happen and most likely get worse.
