Document Summary

Anthropology- the study of the full scope of human diversity and the application of that knowledge to help people of different backgrounds better understand one another. Understand people so we can help others. Globalization-impact on human groups, external relationships, how we study groups. Worldwide process through which diverse peoples and nations integrated into a single system involve forms of technology, transportation, communication, travel, market exchange. Can share ideas, theories, styles, art, music, activism in seconds. Work in small scale communities, work from bottom to top. Not top down, do not start with studying people with the most power. Expectations are different depending on social context. Should spend time understanding history of community. Have to be careful because history is written by people themselves. Anthropologists do everything you would normally do yet they do it while immersed in the specific culture they are in. Must lose predisposed biases from growing up in own culture.
