Document Summary

So far, we have learned that the film noir is categorized by a focus on crime, corruption, and the trenches of what lies beneath perfect american lives. Double indemnity harbors many of the film noir"s defining characteristics, such as the classic good guy gone bad , a seductive femme fatale, and impressive lighting techniques. Above all else, the film is almost entirely set in walter"s flashback. As with many works abstract works of art, i had to rely on an arbitrarily formed initial impression after the movie had ended. As it turns out, the scene depicting keyes" dissection of the dietrichson case (1:18:48) spoke out to me the most but not because of any extravagant attempts at lighting or inserting a soundtrack (quite the contrary, actually). However, the key to this scene is not the lack of form, but the overwhelming presence of content delivery the notion that the director is more focused on the underlying plot.
