Document Summary

2/14/17: liberals as people strongly in favor of liberty, the idea that at some level we should have a minimal picture of government so it allows a maximum amount of individual liberty. Rawls was known as a famously modest man. Rawls wrote a theory of justice: justice is the elimination of arbitrary difference . Rawls defines two principles of justice: each person has an equal right to the greatest amount of liberty compatible with a like amount for all. Ceteris paribus- all things being equal, all else equal. All things being equal, we should all be treated as equals. I have the right to do whatever i want, i have the right to exercise my liberty, as long as me exercising my liberties doesn"t limit the way you can exercise your liberties. I can do whatever i want to do with my life, as long as i don"t start messing around with what you can do in your life.
