Document Summary

If red is on some scale of a wave that looks something like this. Then green might look something like this. And violet might look something like this. Red has long wavelengths, violet has short wavelengths. Red light goes up to about 750 nm. Violet goes up to around 380 nm. These waves can range from miles to something so small we don"t even know the prefixes for it. Our eyes can see a short range in the hundreds of nanometers. Upon traversing a prism, refraction splits the colors of white light. Question 1 review- blue light has a wavelength of about 470 nm. [note: prefix t- tera = 10 12 ; f = femto = 10 -15 ] This is the emission spectra of helium and hydrogen. The spectrum is unique for each element. Different atoms will emit light at different colors. They emit light at a bunch of different wavelengths.
