Categories of assessment in the area of speech production. You are blind and had never touched a sphere or a cube. Your vision is recovered but right before is recovered the doctor asks you to touch a sphere. Matching visual information with tactile information is easy for adults. Perhaps because we can give the same name (labels) to the visual and tactile. However, it has been shown that chimpanzees can to some extent match. The big question is if we need language (labels) to match shapes cross-modally cross-modality information. 120 infants (8. 7 months) were tested in their ability to match visual and tactual information. 32 infants (29 days old) were tested in their ability to match visual and tactual amount of time the baby looked at both information. All babies were tested in the same way. 18-20 week old infants were tested in their ability to match the sound with the face producing the sound.
