Project camelot: anthropologist was asked by the us gov. to go to chile to do research on chilean social movements (unions) and report back to the gov. about the militant activism. Local people were furious and they ran him out of the country. Anthropologists form part of the world: effecting people they speak with, studying the world trying to get distance and understand it. (study the world & also be a part of it) Helps us make sound conclusions can push back understanding of humans back in time. Plasticity: human body changes in shape in relationship to the environment given the conditions. Primatology: social creatures, can learn a bit of ourselves from the similarities. Archaeology: the study of the physical remains of previous people. Stratigraphy: farther down you go, the older the stuff is. Able to understand the relative age of things. Allows you to see how society was organized differently at different times.
