Ex: change of appeal of african art more than aesthetic longings and moral values that the western soul is in need of. Global reach of arts = west and east art exchanged. Avante-garde is leading edge; dadaism is ironic protest against wwi and the society that produced it. Supported anything that could outrage bourgeois (middle class) taste.
