Globalization has affected all aspects of our lives and will continue to do so. The five main characteristics of global studies are transnational, interdisciplinary, contemporary and historical, critical and multicultural, and globally responsible; these are characteristics that are important to maintain in today"s interconnected world. Global studies can take on several different meanings and is a relatively new field of study that is very interdisciplinary. Especially in today"s world that only continues to grow more globally connected, this field will help us understand how each action we take affects multiple aspects of multiple lives. Globalization, like all things, can be used for both good and malicious purposes, as demonstrated by the broadcast of osama bin laden"s speech. The broadcast required a chain of global connections which are not uncommon in today"s world, demonstrating a need for better international cooperation and communication in order to reign in malicious forces, such as bin.
