Romulus and remus (livy"s roman history, 1st c. bce) Twins - sons of the roman god, mars. Romulus slept with a vestal virgin (woman who would become a priestess) Both are cast out into the wild, but are saved by a she-wolf. Roman men under the lead of romulus goes to a neighboring tribe and steal the women from the sabines. In the end, the women do not want conflict so they just go with the romans and become roman wives. Do not have sources dating back to the roman monarchy. Can trace huts on the roman hills (10th century)
