A lot of social sciences do experiments on the weird population. Assumes little variable across human populations, or that these "standard subjects" are representative of the species as any other population. Findings suggest that members of weird societies, including young children, are among the least representative populations one could find for generalizing about humans. The capacity for altering one"s own responses, especially to bring them into line with standards such as ideals, values, morals, and social expectations, and to support the pursuit of long-term goals. Appear to be vulnerable to deterioration over time from repeated exertions. Motivational or framing factors can temporarily block the deleterious effects of being in a state of ego depletion. Participants objected and tried to stop, but were far more likely than anyone predicted to obey the instructions of an authority figure and deliver shocks up to the highest level.
