WRIT 50 Lecture 5: Drafting
Document Summary
Drafting (breaking a huge project into small, doable tasks) What i mean by draft: not final draft. It"s easier to change something that exists than to stare at a blank page. If you set yourself up to finish things, you"ll continue to work: less likely to procrastinate. Try some techniques: see what works best, don"t force yourself into a technique, some drafting strategies. Detailed outline = list of small project parts. Ask why and how for each of your paper goals. It can aslo be for abstract goals: why do i need a background section, how do i orient the reader so they all have the same base level of information. Start with subject you"re confident about: e. g. if just interviewed hs counselors about strategies and want to write while fresh in your mind, go for it. Ask periodically, what else does my reader need to know to understand my thesis? .
