If there is a decimal point, then it becomes significant: some numbers are exact, like counts, and then have an unlimited number of sigfigs, all non 0 numbers are significant. If the number is 5 or more, round up and drop the following. Conversions from one unit to another: factor-label method (aka unit analysis) Equations are set up so that the unwanted units cancel each other out, and only the desired units remain. Conversion factors are numerically equal to 1/equivalent to multiplying by 1, so doesn"t effect the problem. Units are treated like numbers, and can thus be multiplied and divided (must be set up so the units cancel) Should do a ballpark estimate to make sure you know what direction you"re going in.
