COGS 11 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Body Schema, Central Sulcus, Parietal Lobe
Document Summary
Incongruent self = some sort of aspect in mind is incongruent with the body -> look at the edge . Ex: bizarre disorder that makes a person want to amputate their limbs (healthy limbs they never wanted) -> desperately comes up with a solution to force doctors to amputate. Not psychological trauma, it"s the relationship with how your mind works in relation to your body. Proprioceptive = your ability to receive information about self. The information that comes to your brain about where your limbs are in space. The brain knows the extension of where your limbs are and where your nose is. Sensory movement information is a feedback loop. Body image (ex: how magazines tell you where your body should be at) There"s more disruption on the body schema side than the body image side. Sulcus = land, reviene, land (the dip) A landmark that separates the frontal lobe from the parietal lobe.
