Each trait determined by factor, parents give 1 factor. 1865 - each factor discrete, unchanged throughout generation. Dominant and recessive genes ideas incorporated into animal and plant breeding. Charles davenport - became center of american eugenics movement located at eugenics record office. Carefully controlling human reproduction could get rid of undesirable conditions. Positive eugenics - encouraging reproduction by persons presumed to have inheritable desirable traits.
