Session musician - paid a flat rate for showing up and doing the job: royalties - money collected from the use of music, mechanical rights - money collected from sale of music, record store - self-explanatory. In provincial areas that may not have easy access to mass media, managers of record stores were. Single - small recording with one on each side. Initially made for radio airplay; were also sold at record stores. Available length on single determined accepted length of pop songs.
