Document Summary

Unconcious inference - information available is insufficient, so our brain makes guesses. You see much less about the world than you think you do. That syndrome that lets you see only one object at a time. Change blindness : things disappear and then it"s hard to remember them. Sensory memory -> working memory and long term memory. But some working memory stuff goes into long term memory. Present a long series of words (30) Not just decay from more time passing - interference! Hm couldn"t remember a single string that was one larger than his span. Had normal ltm, but lost normal stm. You can be impaired in one, but not the other! Ex. for visual working memory, in the parietal lobe. Two kinds of stm : sensory and working. Let subjects view an array of letters for a short period of time. The capacity of the store is the number of letters they can report after the presentation.
