PSYC 154 Lecture 10: Chapter 12 notes- Behavioral skills training (BST) procedures
Document Summary
Chapter 12 notes- behavioral skills training (bst) procedures. Use bst for more complex behaviors, ones that don"t follow a specific linear pattern. Used for behaviors that can be simulated in a role play. *role play is an important component of bst. Used with learners who can follow instructions and imitate models. Used when more intrusive prompting and fading or chaining procedures are not necessary. Can work for can"t do and won"t do problems. Ex) teaching parenting skills, assertiveness, abduction prevention strategies, preventing gun play, and social skills (very social situation i different, using chaining would sound like a script) Instructions- describe what to do ( if you see this, do one of two things , here are the options you have if you encounter a situation ) Must be given by a person with credibility/authority. Makes it more likely that they will repeat correctly.
