Document Summary

Learning: a change in thought or behavior resulting from experience: stimulus: anything in the environment to which an organism might react, response: any behavior resulting from a stimulus. Behaviorism: focused on observable changes in behavior; disregarded everything else (like emotions, thoughts, etc. : stimulus (internal thought process in mind was disregarded) response. Classical conditioning (ivan pavlov): learning associations between stimuli. Ivan pavlov studied digestion and discovered classical conditioning on accident: dogs salivated when they saw meat. Then paired meat with the sound of a metronome. At first, nothing happens when hearing the tone. The(cid:374), (cid:373)othe(cid:396)(cid:859)s (cid:373)i(cid:374)d pai(cid:396)s (cid:272)(cid:396)(cid:455)i(cid:374)g (cid:449)ith (cid:271)(cid:396)eastfeedi(cid:374)g, so if the (cid:373)o(cid:373) hea(cid:396)s the baby cry regardless if the baby is hungry, the mother will produce the milk. Unconditioned response is the milk production (milk let down). Conditioned response is milk production from the baby crying: going to the dentist could cause anxiety/pain. Learn to pair the sound of drilling with the unpleasant experience of being at the dentist.
