Document Summary

Lifeboat drill was cancelled because it coincided with church (sunday morning) Also, why have a drill when the boat was unsinkable. The media created the rumor that the ship was unsinkable. What started as an assertion became a fact. There were also no lookouts (people with binoculars) Ages of the lookouts: 22 and 25. Had no binoculars because they were locked in a locker. The person who had the keys to the locker got fired by captain smith. Lookout spot: 60 ft pole on the front of the boat. Job is to yell that there is a problem. No one saw the iceberg, they only saw the stars reflected by the ocean. They never saw the iceberg, they only found out after the warnings. The iceberg just looked like a patch of darkness. Once they noticed, captain smith tried to turn the ship left. The titanic takes 2 miles to stop.
