Animals have played the role of transportation, the ancient equivalent of a tank, companions, and messengers. The act of warfare has had a profoundly negative effect on agriculture, food security and the poor animals getting shot at. Many different types of animals have been used through history in warfare. In battle, were more difficult to stop and had increased effect. Dogs were first to be domesticated, followed by cats. The nature of warfare lead to many improvements, improvements that later were applied to the larger society. Two horse carts or chariots were easier for smaller early horses to pull. Avoided the direct weight of the rider on the horse. Early horses were kinda weak and struggled in carrying people.
