Insulin stimulates lipogenesis primarily by activating two enzymatic pathways. Leptin a protein produced by fatty tissue and believed to regulate fat storage in the body. Lipolysis--mobilization of fat: hormones play a role in this. Growth hormone (gh) a hormone that stimulates growth in animal or plant cells, especially (in animals) a hormone secreted by the pituitary gland. Epinephrine a hormone secreted by the adrenal medulla upon stimulation by the central nervous system in response to stress, as anger or fear, and acting to increase heart rate, blood pressure, cardiac output, and carbohydrate metabolism. Sympathetic nervous system secretes this: if you haven"t eaten something in a while, the body will start lipolysis for energy. Fat storage and mobilization are in a constant state of homeostasis: any change will be regulated by these hormones.
