Structure formed by apposition of fetal and maternal tissue. Exchange nutrients and oxygen from mother to fetus. Amnion the innermost membrane, surrounds the amniotic cavity and fetus. Lined on the outside by the allantois. Communicates with the fetal urachus (outflow of fetal urine) Inner layer in contact with the amnion, outer layer in contact/fused with chorion. Chorion outer embryonic membrane surrounds the allantoic cavity, amnion, amniotic cavity and fetus. Often fused with the outer allantois = chorioallantois. Structure extending from the ventral abdominal wall of the fetus. Connection from fetus to the chorion (site of exchange with mother) Urachus outflow for fetal fluid waste, connected to the fetal bladder. Umbilical arteries (2) from the fetal aorta to the placenta.
