ANFS140 Lecture 1: ANFS140 Nervous Tissue Notes
Document Summary
Divisions of nervous system: 2 grand systems: somite--a division of the body of an animal or embryo, parallel systems that address different parts of the body, somatic nervous system. Sensory and motor innervation to body except viscera, circulatory system, and glands. Sensory and motor components make up the somatic nervous system. Sensory and motor innervation to somites of the body. Sensory flow is from the periphery/somites to the brain/ spinal chord. Motor flow is from the brain/spinal chord to the somites (skeletal muscle tissue of somatic system) of the body. Sensory and motor to viscera (bladder, gi tract, lungs, intestines, urogenital tract), circulatory, and glands (sweat, mammary, etc. ) Motor flow is to the all of viscera, smooth and cardiac muscle, and glandular tissue from cns. Sensory flow is from viscera (e. g. heart attacks, stomachaches, allergies, etc) and parasympathetic motor nervous. Together the parasympathetic and the sympathetic nervous systems make up the autonomic nervous system.
