T-lymphocytes: t-lymphocytes undergo differentiation in the thymus, there are 2 major classes of t-lymphocytes. Alpha/beta cells: two important sub-lineages, cd4 t cells. Helper cells (th)of the immune system: cd8 t cells. Cytotoxic t cells (ctls) capable of destroying target cells that express. The mhc: called h2 in the mouse and hla (for human lymphocyte antigen) in man, mhc gene product: Class i- found on the surface of all nucleated cells. Increased levels of proteasome activity correlate with disease activity and have been implicated in autoimmune diseases including systemic lupus erythamatosus and rheumatoid arthritis. Mhc and mate selection: there are strong genetic pressures to keep our mhc as diverse as possible (increases genetic diversity). This pressure drives mate choice in many species, and some evidence suggests that men and women are not indifferent to mhc type. How to choose a mate experimental design: 49 female and 44 male college students (not ud) were typed for their mhc haplotype.
