How it sounds when we read text. Intonation - how we say it; emotion; etc. Endurance - how long can you read for. 2 requirements of reading breaking the code and constructing meaning. The more energy spent with the code, the less remaining for meaning construction. Level 4 - reads in large, meaningful phrase groups. Level 3 - reads primarily in 3-4 word phrase groups. Level 2 - reads primarily in 2-word phrase groups. Level 1 - reads word by word. Choosing text for tier 1 fluency work. Select texts within the ccss grade-level bands for difficulty. Select texts with a variety of genres, representing ideas from a variety of cultures, with rich vocabulary and interesting content. During reading - support fluency and comprehension. After reading - develop comprehension through discussion and writing. How to support students who are struggling. Reread in partners to provide additional practice.
