Large christian and jewish community in middle east. Historically, the distribution of oil was not a big deal; it"s a modern dependence. There are lots of arabs but there are also turks and iranians neither are arab. Turkish is not arabic (it is a language and ethnicity) turks come from central asia and brought their language with them to become and islamic language. Within arab community there is a lot of diversity. From turkey to iran mostly turkish speaking. Physical geography dictates everything water, cities that originate in oases, agriculture, caravan routes, shipping ways with oceans (fragile) People live along the nile and around oases. Pastoralism and nomadism bc not enough vegetation in on spot to be sedentary instability. Arabia felix happy arabia; remote around 6th century (byzantine empire and persian empire, the sasanians) arabian peninsula. The byzantines were greek orthodox, the christian empire in the east after the fall of the roman empire in the west)
