Most americans met a town hall meeting, they were literate and enjoyed the free subjects of the british. Did not want to develop a true revolution, or replace a representative form of government therefore it was not a true revolution. Ideas caused the revolution not economic, social, etc. but ideas. Many ideas came from different sources (greek enlightenment ideology, etc. ) Ideas were articulated in american context and new ideas were formed as well leading up to the revolution.
