Imperial school: believed that is just wasn"t the economics that caused the american. It was bad government policies not just the economics. Taxation policies had existed but was not restricted. Lewis naimer: source of the american revolution was britain"s political instability. A product of something that already existed. Colonial america was already evolved and more democratic. Dismissed any class conflict, if rebellion had occurred, it was by the most lawless people of society. Most americans met a town hall meeting, they were literate and enjoyed the free subjects of the british. Did not want to develop a true revolution, or replace a representative form of government therefore it was not a true revolution. Ideas caused the revolution not economic, social, etc. but ideas. Many ideas came from different sources (greek enlightenment ideology, etc. ) Ideas were articulated in american context and new ideas were formed as well leading up to the revolution.
