No dialect is inferior, less pure, less logical, less complex, etc. than other dialects. Sometimes, mutually intelligible dialects are considered different languages. Sometimes, mutually unintelligible dialects are considered the same language. A language is a dialect with an army and a navy. If 2 dialects are mutually intelligible, they belong to the same language. If 2 dialects are mutually unintelligible, they belong to different languages. A language itself is a collection of dialects. Many regional dialects can exist within miles of each other. Many language patterns are correlated with social characteristics. It is spoken in a capital city, or the most populated city in a country. All dialects are scientifically equal, but there are benefits to knowing the standard dialect. Simplifies communication between speakers of different dialects. Language is used to assert one"s identity.
