List of words occurring in the language along with their other linguistic components. What kind of forms they need to have in order to function properly in a sentence. Ex- consider the following pairs of words (word is used loosely here) May be two words, but the difference between those two are not substantial. They are the same in the sense that they refer to the same concept or entity. Cat, dogs difference between those two are more substantial. In dictionary there is not different words under smart, smarter etc. Instead, under every lexeme smart there are variations of word forms. Not all words are the same, they belong to different categories. Even though we do not know what plok means, we know it is a noun, and its potential for occurrence within the language. Syntactic properties- it functions as the subject, it occurs after a determiner. Morphological properties- it ends with a plural suffix-s.
