Propagates through the ocean at depths ~ 4km. Moves at speed of c=l/t (time in hours, l in km) Tidal waves propagate in ocean basins and are subject to the coriolis effect. Tidal range high near land and in circular patches in ocean. In a normal wave of energy, hump above line is called flood currents, below is ebb currents, stack is at the node point crossing the line. Direction of wave is opposite of current path when ebb currents. Bay of fundy: 7 m of tidal range, 30 mil kwh per year, ~4,000 homes.
