Emphasize individual goals and achievements over collective/community goals and achievements. Government power is increased in proportion to decreases/limitations to individual liberty. Government grows to pursue collective goals at the expense of individual goals. Distrust authority because they are obstacles to the realization of my liberties. Every individual has an equal opportunity to succeed/realize his rights. No guarantee of success (quality of condition) Since everyone has equal opportunity to succeed, success and failure are the result of individual effort. Rich deserve to be rich and poor deserve to be poor. Government attempts to achieve equality of condition deprives individuals of liberty and destroys equality of opportunity. Poor now have better opportunities than rich. Us has less rigid class/social structure than other nations - opportunities exist for economic mobility. But economic inequality is much greater in us. Vast scientific literature documents that life chances at birth are strikingly unequal.
