Wherever the bird with no feet flew, she found trees with no limbs. We find out she is 17 years old: lee"s mom then complains about that girl you hang around with meaning. Lee goes to school and changes into masculine clothes in the bathroom. Lee is a loner: eats lunch in a classroom with a teacher, she is a poet. Gets upset when the teacher says the poem is not her best work. Lee"s full name is alike (pronounce uh-lee-kay) Mom is bothered by lee not wanting to go to homecoming. Mom works in a medical office, and has a conversation with a coworker: she is upset lee no longer likes the clothing she buys for her, she bought her a pink blouse. Lee"s sister walks in on her with it on and freaks out. Mom is uncomfortable with lee and laura being together. Lee lets the girl she likes dance with someone else because she"s self-conscious.
