Qualitative- listening to and observing people, and understanding their interpretations. Sociologist study groups, however groups are made of individuals. Within those networks some behaviors and choices will be celebrated, some will be censured. Institutions: major components of social structure ( economy, family, education, government, religion, ect) Institutions shape what behaviors are acceptable and which are not. Sociology seeks to understand how different groups have difference access. Problems we face in our immediate relationships with particular inficuals in our personal lives. Problems we face as a consequence of the positions we occupy within the larger social structure. Credit card debt: private trouble: is a problem within the individual, not saving, spending beyond their means. dont understand value of money.
