February 2019, youtube announced that it would prohibit advertising on any channel that promoted anti-vaccination content. Anti-vax content has a large and virulently loyal following online, despite the fact that there is no scientific evidence whatsoever that vaccines cause illness or significant negative side effects. Still, anti-vax activists argue that advertising has been allowed on other channels promoting other disputed health items and ideas, such as gwynneth paltrow"s.
