Gender=social classification assoc w/ range of masculine and feminine. Sex=biological aspects of being male, female, or intersex. Genetic sex=what you have going on in the chromosomes: xx=female, xy=male. Female clit and male head of penis (glans) Intersexuality= unclear/ambiguous biological sex: genetically male but female external genitalia, genetically female but male external genitalia, genetically female but ambiguous external genitalia. Gender= a social construct that"s monitored and reinforced by society. Third-gender= don"t id w/ m or f, but something else: ex. Indivs who considered both m and f but play special roles in society. Bigender/trigender/pangender= id as both m and f or all 3: similar to genderfluid but not as much switching, pangender= id as all of the genders at once. Gender roles- attitudes, behaviors, rights, and responsibilities assoc w/ gender id. Men not supposed to be emotional, women stay at home, men make the money, men=sexually aggressive, women=sexually submissive, men=engineers, women=nurses. Are learned and are consciously and unconsciously perpetuated.
