Earth science: the study of the solid earth, oceans, atmosphere, life, and our setting in space. List at least four aspects of earth science as it applies to north america. Green colors - dense vegetation dark green= fields light green = grassy plains. Brown colors - deserts and other regions w/ less vegetation. Blue colors - lakes light blue = shallow areas dark blue = deep areas. Earth science deals with the interaction of these components (land, ocean, atmosphere and astronomy), focusing on the earth as a series of systems, an approach often called earth- system science. Sketch or list some ways that earth processes control where it is safe to live and the landscape around us. Geologic factors also control the distribution of energy and mineral resources in croplands. The distinction between continents and oceans is a reflection of differences in the types and thickness of the rocks and in how each formed.
