24: learning: its conditions and principles neal e. miller & john dollard: the authors provide a straightforward description of how people learn the accepted behaviors of their cultural environments. The authors would agree that behaviors can, over time, become the personality characteristics of an individual. In the reading, miller and dollard stated that individual aggressiveness has often been believed to be instinctive, and that in a group of aggressive individuals, social conditions have influenced the development of the aggressive personality trait. I believe that conscious awareness is not required for learning in some cases. For example, sometimes children learn by unconsciously modeling/imitating their parents" behavior. Even without making a conscious effort to listen to what the people are saying, the children pick up a few things or two. In both cases, conscious awareness is not required. To want something does not require conscious awareness either.
