Participants filled out extensive baseline and follow-up questionnaires on health aspects and personal habits, and certain medical outcomes were adjudicated by physicians. Whi exclusion criteria: predicted survival < 3 years, plans to move within 3 years, certain complicating conditions. Hormone therapy trial: coronary heart disease and fractures. Breast and colorectal cancers and coronary heart disease.
