Benefit: very consistent compared to horticulture, can produce more. Breeding and managing herds of domesticated grazing animals. Transhumance- semi nomadic people, permanent communities, but during some times of year parts of community leaves to follow herds or grow food at higher elevation. Basseri- live in iran, pastoral nomads, ranked society. Selling the production itself, selling labor to produce goods. Production is still organized but done in very different way. Vast majority of the society does not own their means of production. Means of production are always owned by the producer, own the technology and resources they use. Mode of production: based on age and gender. Nonindustrial, not working for a wage but working to support themselves.
