How to read the text / watch videos. Type in the code modify it interact with it. It"s okay to read and not understand something. That"s okay (unless your first try is on the exam). A computer is a machine which executes programs. The instructions might tell the computer to display text on a monitor, or read a character from a file, or add two numbers together, etc. Large programs such as microsoft word and mozilla firefox contain millions of instructions. The programs (software) we write control the computer"s hardware. Familiarity with hardware basics helps us write better software. Two kinds of memory (main memory and auxiliary/secondary memory). A binary bit is a digit with a value of either 0 or 1. Binary bits are used to represent all data in a computer.
