Individuals with genotypes which makes them prone to disperse. Certain individuals which dispersed had genes that home-body individuals did not. Dispersal is typically a one-way event involving movement away from a place of group (population, family) Migration is periodic movement from one area where an animal has bene living to a new area, A lot of different types of species migrate (like butterflies and hummingbirds) Can be dated back to dinosaurs which moved from floodplains to higher land according to the systems. Appears to only have evolved in species with short-distance migrations. Migration incredible lengths (north-south pole) in order to track temperatures. Migrates between tropical and temperate climate zones for temperature tracking. Long-migrating monarchs have the lowest level of oe infection. Culling infected, weaker individuals die during the migration, lowering levels of oe. Escape individuals migrate away from the parasite, lowering the levels of oe. A lot of individuals from different areas meet in a central location to mate.
