On a given day i usually only greet a couple of strangers that sit by me or walk by me. I do try to go out of my way and talk to everyone i have met before or am friends with. I always greet people who do any type of service such as, holding the door for me or a cashier at the store. I definitely greet my family and good friends differently though. I am more casual when greeting people, i always see just because we have spent so much time together already. Other people i am just meeting i am more formal with my greetings. I think that we vary our forms of address based on the people we are talking to and our relationships with them. Physical culture is a lot more present in french culture than in american culture. American"s don"t associate touching with a greeting other than sometimes a hug or a handshake.
