Ex: buddhism, christianity, islam (~ 58% of the world"s population adheres to one of these three) Religion is a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, & purpose of the universe, usually involving devotional & ritual observances relating to a god or gods, & often containing a moral code for human conduct. Global or universalizing religions are those which attempt to appeal to a diverse group of people, not just those living in a particular location, or belonging to only one culture. Cultural or ethnic religions are those with a relatively concentrated spatial distribution whose beliefs and principles are likely to be adopted by only one culture or sometimes a few different cultures. Religions can also be delineated by their focus: Monotheistic, which refers to religions that worship a single deity such as christianity, islam and judaism. Polytheistic or those religions, which worship more than one deity, such as hinduism.
