Symptoms- kind of the opposite of depression: elation, extreme sociability, impatience, distractibility, desire for action, talkativeness, hyperactivity, decreased need for sleep. Treatment: first go to treatment, because they have had a depressive episode. Then get anti-depressive medicine, and its going to make their manic episodes really bad. Depressed people get more depressed around the holidays. In the winter time they show symptoms to fatigue, slushiest etc. Farther north you go, the more people have it. No one at the equator has it. Cure: like therapy- so(cid:373)e people are (cid:448)er(cid:455) se(cid:374)siti(cid:448)e that it"s dark all the time. (when dark your brain produces melatonin-makes you sleepy. ) expose people to light. Some people either produce too much melatonin or sensitive to: disorders with (cid:862)physical(cid:863) symptoms melatonin. Somatoform disorders- complaints of physical problems without physical evidence or diagnosed physical cause. Go to doctor with a physical complaint (pain, believe they have a disease, some normal function they think is not working)
