-Kant’s ethics is founded on any human being by virtue of being rational believes in
freedom
-Kant believes in God and freedom
-Freedom: choose between right and wrong
-Take responsibility for my action
-Right action is performed OUT OF DUTY
-It is our duty
-If you do something good but not in the best intention, it is not good
-Cute fireman
-If you do it because you like it, it takes away the moral goodness
-Universal (covers all rational beings) morals (ethics: right vs wrong)
-You are born with the knowledge of what’s good
-Blessed are the meak in spirit
-For Kant, you can be stupid and be wonderful (Spinoza and New disagree)
-2 kinds of imperatives
1. Hypothetical (wrong imperative)
a. Going to class to go to law school
i.Means to an act (expect reward)
ii.You can use it for wrong reasons
1. Lawyer: defend mafia bosses
2. Being a lawyer doesn’t always mean good deeds
