Small cost to buy a radio, but then you get free news. Almost immediate news, newspapers couldn"t have immediate breaking news: television by mid-1950"s, most middle and upper class households had tvs. Have moving images, as well as sound. Only had limited tv stations they could tune into (nbc, abc, cbs, maybe some local) 1970s: expansion in cable tv (more people have access and broader menu of channels) Already well established when war happens and people want constant updates => more channels pop up: the internet. You can be a pickier consumer, search specific news.
